Our Programs
Heritage of Service Trust has 3 main programs which are Environment, Gender Women Empowerment and HIV/AIDS.
Environment
Our organization believes in global warming and climate change. As such, we feel that our contribution to the conservation of natural resources is not adequate, given our resource limitations.
In our organization, it's never business as usual because current environmental organizations and those which came before us, seem to be fighting a losing battle partly due to the fact that we all appear to be using the same old methods but expecting different results.
In an effort to make a difference, we have ventured into environmental research.
Through research, we have come up with new and more effective processes and products that can be used to preserve and to protect the environment. The same can be said about adaptation to climate change.
We have invented a horticulture technology that saves water by well over 80%, increases crop yield by 300% and reduces drudgery, (hard labor to almost nothing). We hold Intellectual Property rights for this invention and serious investors are welcome. Furthermore, we have invented a substance that is going to cut the cooking bill by 50%. We foresee many housewives and hotels, doing away with low pressure gas and electricity. These and many more can be made available to interested investors.
We wish to mention in passing that our little but steady success in inventions is made up of 99% Devine revelation and 1% science and evidence of reason. That probably explains why there are no known schools for inventors.
Gender and Women Empowerment
We have observed that success in achieving gender equality has been hindered by different perceptions or interpretation of gender. Whereas some people correctly define gender as norms and behaviours which society expects of males and females, am almost similar number mistake gender to mean sex. As a result, the latter group conclude that gender is a synonym for feminism and that leads to resentment of the subject among most men. While it is true that way back the words gender and sex were used interchangeably, the world should change over without further delay. We have observed that whenever males get to know the correct meaning of gender, they open up and co-operate making it easy to empower women. The other thing we have observed is that males resent programs that are labelled 'women only' as they perceive them as instruments for disempowering them in order to empower women. To avoid the backlash, we always insist on empowerment for all with a bias towards women. For example, whenever we wish to empower females, we ensure that they first undergo gender equality awareness together with males. Only after that awareness can we empower the community on a ratio of 3:1 in favour of females. In other words, convince males that there are unhealthy economic and social differences between females and them and that adjustments are therefore desirable. Equally so, convince females that there's nothing wrong in them being treated the same way as males Afterall God created us as equal beings.
HIV/AIDS
Botswana is among the worst affected countries in the world with 1 in every persons testing positive. what that implies is our environment, gender equality and women empowerment programmes are rendered useless if the same people we intend to empower are dying around us that reality has compelled us to mainstream HIV/AIDS in all our activities.
